Week in Review: Color Week 2

Our yummy strawberry spread :)

Froglet dumped them into the sorting tray.

Then he put them back in the tubes.

I Love love love the Lakeshore ones, but they don't fit my budget.

I got these tubes at Wal~Mart.

The pieces are pretty sturdy.

The lids are a bit tricky, but not too bad.

We are still working on painting.

I keep trying.  Maybe if I start making the handprint wreath he will paint more!

Monday-

Story-I have been wracking my brain and searching for Lego books... while I was scanning books, I came across these.  I mean I just bought them, you would think I would remember I had them!  :)


Poem- 
New Red Lego had to build, using many bricks.
With a green one here and a red one there,
here a yellow, there a blue, everywhere a Lego. 
New Red Lego had to build a shiny new tower.

Art~ Free choice Lego painting
Put some paint out on small paper plates and put a Lego on each plate.  You could get all fancy and match the Lego to the paint :)

Math/Life Skills/Science Brick Math

Snack- Lego crackers 

Spread (peanut butter or cream cheese or whatever) on long Club crackers and cut up some grapes into circles. Attach on top like a Lego. 

Tuesday-

Story- Choose a Lego book

Fingerplay- Sing "New Red Lego" Song using real Legos. 

Hold out a colored Lego and have your child say the name of the Lego.

Art- Lego's in dough

I might bring out these small blocks in addition to the large Duplo ones :)

Math/Life Skills/Science- Roll a Duplo Tower
Roll a number cube. Take that many blocks.

You could roll a certain number of times and stop. You could race to a certain number. 

We will play until Froglet gets board.

Snack- Cracker with circle cheese I'm trying to figure out what I can use to cut such small circle... like the size of a test tube.

Thursday-

Story- pick a Lego book 

Fingerplays- 

Art- L is for Lego

I am going to draw a large capital L on paper and have Froglet paint inside (yeah who am I kidding, he's not staying inside the lines lol   That is PERFECTLY fine!)

Snack-Crackers with Cheez Wiz (I think I am going to soften some cream cheese and put in my Pampered Chef decorator bottles and make my own)
I am also hoping to find some Mini peperoni too :)  They are hit and miss at my store.

Friday-

Story  Pick a different Lego book

Fingerplays- Repeat the poem from yesterday.

Art- Lego person

It was just a jpg, so when I went to print, I chose "scale to fit" option to fill the page.
I plan to bring out the markers :) 

(I don't usually bring out the yellow one lol)

Math/Life Skills/Science- Spin and take 

Snack- Graham Crackers with M&M's or chocolate chips or maybe Rice Krispy Treats!

Week In Review: Colors

I am so proud of myself for getting out the paints...

now Froglet has decided he doesn't want to paint anymore lol

Week in Review: Olympics

It was a rainy week for us :(   Thankfully we go to the YMCA on Wednesday's and we can channel our inner gymnast :) We try to go to a park every morning.  Last week we quick ran to the splash pad before it stormed. Another day we headed to a park another day we just stayed at home because we just didn't know about the weather.

It's going to take a long time in my toaster oven!

Then you grab the bag of M&M's....

OMG y'all they are killin' me!!!

Here is the ONE and ONLY cookie I could decorate!

We set up an indoor basketball hoop inside

I put a box on his chair and would shoot across the room. 

I left the room and he put the box on the floor.

Great thinking Froglet!

He now carries the box around to different places in the house.

Works for me!

I was a little bummed that we didn't get to do our own 

Backyard Olympics, maybe I can do some later this summer :)

Name Practice- I will cut out squares of the rainbow and add a letter to each color.  First letter is red, second is orange, third is yellow, then green, blue, and purple. Then add pink, brown, grey, black (write on with white crayon.)

Pour some milk into a shallow dish drop food coloring in, not touching, touch Q-tip in some dish soap. Put soaked Q-tip into bowl. Watch it swirl!

Snack- Oranges or carrots

Thursday- Yellow

Story  

Fingerplays- Yellow Story Bots

Art- Brown Bear Pictures  (BBP) yellow duck

Math/Life Skills/Science- White carnation colored water

So the actual science will take a while, but I was thinking that I could drop some food coloring into my test tubes (I got some at Dollar Tree) but you could also just use glasses, and have Froglet add the water. I am hoping that there will be a change later and be just as amazed!  

I've done this experiment with daisies as well :)

I am going to color on the clips and have Froglet match.

Don't have color tubes? Print these out and laminate. You could sort in a relish tray or bowls. For older children, simply write on index cards in that color and have them sort.

I found this recipe so long ago... now it's lost!  It was from generic chex cereal. I think it is:

1/4 cup white sugar
1t cinnamon
1/4 cup butter
4 cups chex cereal
1/2 cup raisins

Melt butter in electric skillet.  Add cereal and raisins. Coat well.  Mix cinnamon and sugar.  Add to skillet.  Stir to coat. Store in bag/sealed container.

I have NO idea if those are the amounts.  I have searched high and low for the actual recipe both in my home and on Pinterest with no luck :(
