Color of the Day Trays- Part 2

There is a white tray too, apparently I didn't snap a photo :(
It was pretty pathetic, like the black tray.

I added these squeeze mazes
I added these after I remembered that I had them lol

Also, as part of our color unit, we colored in these:

Color of the day Update

Color of the Day

Here's our learning board- make-over addition lol
We use this board all the time for all the different
things!   It began here and changes for different items.
I start with colors and move to shapes, names, letters, and more.
Read about that HERE.

It's a tri-fold board.

Poem found HERE and HERE.
Crayons are from the whole pack.

Frog posters HERE
Poem HERE (I saved them, but now it appears you need to request permission.)  I will try to find the author/link for you.

color maps here, I post them on the board, and we add things that are that color and
then I put it in my color binder. Watch the video at the end of the post.

The green stickers are from Target. See that post here.

Grab the coloring sheets here.

Calm Down Time

Each month, I change out tools in our calm-down area.

Take a look at my area HERE.

I kept the two books there the whole time. I also

have a library shelf available with books.

I needed to come up with some monthly breathing exercises

to change out each month as well.

Hop over here to grab a free sample.

When I first introduced this to my students this year, someone in the next classroom was really struggling with their emotions.
One of my students said that they needed to do some "turkey breathing."
I did chuckle a bit because I had just made it up for our class.
I then agreed with them that our neighbor indeed needed to do some
"turkey breathing" :)

Recycling Unit

We start off with this song, and it gets stuck in your head!

Recycle

Mini erasers with cards

Unifix cubes to measure

Light table

Glass beads and Earth

Books for the unit

We read this book and made the classbook too!

This was for journals.
We practice our names the "kindergarten way"

We brainstormed shapes of recyclables could be.

I added these things to our sensory bin-
things for compost and things to recycle.
I put real objects in the table too.
Small metal containers as well as some small plastic ones.
I need to add some paper, plastic, and metal items.
I was thinking of those mini brands things.

The filling is clean, new pet bedding.

During journals we made a paper collage.
I brought out a bunch of different kinds of paper.
The students cut or tore the paper.

We traced recycle in blue, green, and our favorite colors :)
Printable here
We also used the word cards from that unit as well.
That's coming in our morning bins post :)

We write our names the "kindergarten way"
The letter of the day was Dd (we write it 4 times because we're four)
We read Compost stew and brainstormed things that would go into our compost.
