Mid~Year Open House

I held a mid-year open house this year for the first time ever.  If you hold one, what do you do at yours?

One thing that wasn't on there was my email address.

Our classroom mailbox.
Typically, it is on my windowsill, but I brought it down for the open house.
I added a frog, of course, for the kids to give a hug :)
The binder has our class letters.

A sampling of our morning bins.
Literally, I took whichever ones we were using.

I put our cards out for the kids to trace along
with my journal.

Classbooks we made

This is just a try-fold board for photo ops!
I have to add some frogs to it :)
I will have this available and more for my back-to-school night.

I left a bucket of writing tools and a scratch paper for them to try the cool tools out :)

Dramatic or Pretend Play
Lists some of the past themes I've done.

We were doing sn*w, so I had them make a snowflake with whatever materials I already had
I had glass gems :)

Please let me know if you would find my sign descriptions helpful for your open house.  I will post them.

Open House 24-25

Everyone on my list came to the open house!

Did I get another child after the open house? Also, yes!

Read about past open houses here.

2023-2024 Open House

Signs and numbers from HERE.

My all about me sheet from HERE.
Getting to know you sheet from HERE.

The real wish list is found HERE.

This year, I grabbed these cute bee marshmallows $$$ at Walmart.

After I bought them, then I looked at the price lol

I had no plan for them, so I needed a plan.  I found some tags HERE

I have used this setup for the last 5 years...
why have I NOT thought to
add some cute frog cutouts on the side????

These props came from Dollar Tree several years ago.

I can't find my play dough tag or my clothes tag,
so I had some school-aged kids make some labels!
I need a slippers tag too lol

Those bins were like $2.62 for all 5!!!!!

I had the children sort their supplies.

Open House 23-24

All About Me- Parent it's from Play To Learn

Thanks a latte from here.
She also had a cute mason jar one too!
Here are some more for the cups part.
I used this clip art to make them :) $

This is that foam-core tri-fold board.
I used the purple border from Dollar Tree.
The photo props are from Dollar Tree too :)

Glow Stick (I think I added my own words because
I can't find it, so here are some other choices:

There are tons to choose from!
I know that when I see someone's photo, I like the one they show :)
It's editable, but I can't find any info :(

On this one, I leave out Post-it notes for them to write
encouraging notes to their children.

But what do I do with them during the year?
Display them?

Sign on bottom: from Hello Literacy

Next, we put the kids to work!!!!

I attach picture logos for supplies on the outside of the bins
so the children can sort them.

I was thinking if most of the families were there
I could take a family photo of them
to display and so I could work on
matching their name to their face,
but not sure how that would work?

Should I have a sign-in sheet?
It's not like I've not done this open house before or have I? lol

2019-2020 Open House

We had an open house
so the kids along with their parents,
could meet me.

I set up my two tables with 8 of 9 stations.

I didn't have photo stands, so when I was
prepping, I just tossed those items into the
bins.

Everyone got a folder to put their materials inside.

Station 2,

All About Me (family) book

Station 3-

Meet the teacher.

I put a business card at the bottom.

Station 4

Wish lists on coffee cups :)

This is station 5

The board, letters, boarders, and props all came from Dollar Tree.

I left them out along with my phone for
pictures in case parents forgot theirs.

Station 6 were mints for the families :)

Station 7 were gifts for the kids-

glow sticks

In hindsight, this should have been station 9

*Note to self, make it station 9 next year lol

Station 9

Was all about book orders.
I attached a letter to book fliers.

The printable came from HERE.

We do those as a class monthly,
we work on cutting skills.

Read more about how I use them HERE.

I had a pretty good turn out :)

Looking forward to a frog-tastic year!!!
