Calm Down area

Safe Place

This is on the wall behind my mini couch

I grabbed them from Pocket of Preschool.
The middle "calm down choices"
have changeable pieces to change the choices out.

Here is the basket that sits on the couch.
I change out the bottles and squishy things monthly.
The calm down book is always there along with
some other books as well.

Here's the couch.

These came from Bullseye's Playground.

                             These came from Bullseye's Playground.

These are from Dollar Tree.

This is from Bullseye's Playground.

This is the HOW

Each month I bring out the new squishy toys and we explore them.
I pass them around the group and they all get a turn.
The next day, they are in the basket.

I want the kids to explore them and not go to play in the
calm down area to just play with the toys in there.

The pinwheel is sort of threaded through the basket

Funny side note:

one year I was walking through this area
(I have two rooms with a bathroom in the middle
and this is across from the bathroom.)
Anyways, on my walk through, I walk passed and
glance as I walk pass, but keep going.
Then my brain registers something weird and walk backwards
to see one of my girls sitting on the couch.
That was odd. I ask her if she was okay, it took
me by surprise she was there.
She's like yep, I'm good.

She just wanted some time to herself.
Girl, I get that. Enjoy your time!

full-sized containers

Plastic Folders 2 needed

They can be any color :)

Non-skid slippers
I've done slippers in the past and it is even more important now.

Slippers are worn by the children upon entering our classroom.
Street shoes go right into the child's bottom cubby and
the slippers go right on all of our feet.

Please choose ones that low profile, more shoe like,
rather than those over-sized ones
similar to these examples

I mean, I wouldn't be mad if these came in my size lol
these are more of a Croc-type shoe though
but it is a FROG after all lol
