Literacy Centers

This is for our journals. We are going to do 1 Fish 2 Fish.
It was a full sheet and I shrunk it and made a double :)
Each child will get one fish bowl and add fish
4/5 depending on their age.

I found a Thing 1 graphic and cut off his hair.
We are going to straw paint with it.

We are making patterns in our journals.
I went old school.
I found this reading sheet.
Cut it apart.
Glued it where I wanted lol
I made copies for my students.
They will make patterns one on each hat.

Make your own dauber art.
Bingo dauber sheet from here.

Tracing sheets FREE

I grabbed some red mini cups and index cards from Dollar.25 Tree.
I cut the cards in half. The children will try to stack a cup on top of a card.
If I had more cups, I might do a chart about how much they could stack.

Puzzles from Dollar.25 Tree

Here's a store-bought puzzle.

I have several of these sets, to make sure that when they get mixed lol
I can sort them out. Typically I just squiggle down before I cut, but apparently, I forgot my own tip!

Here's a store-bought lacing set.

I literally have no idea what this is supposed to be for...
maybe to label children?
Anyways, I printed some there were 1-20.
I added my Suess erasers and BAM! A new center created!
I added dots so they could match if they needed to.

I think these letters were a border.
I added these fabric letters.
The children will match the letters.

Here are some new pencils for our writing center.
I will try to post my writing center all set up.
I thought the red and white looked like stripes from the Cat's hat.
There are some Seuss pencils.
The fish pencil I was thinking
1 Fish 2 Fish book.

Here are tons more of my past Seuss celebrations:

February Bins and Centers

This week in centers and in morning bins:

Hearts from HERE.

Grab these and more here.

Centers this week:

Two different pots for our stews.$

Tic tac toe games from Target.

These are number and letter sheets.
I used pink/magenta gems from Dollar Tree.
Trace the number /letter and cover the same ones on the side.

Grab these play dough mats here$

For the block area items from Target.

We will build towers with these red cups.

Here is our science center. Printables here.
All About ramps.

Here are the new pencils for our writing center.
Some are regular pencils and some colored pencils.
They both were from WalMart.

PS I added purple tape at the top,
so I know that they belong
to the writing center.

Here are some of the "new" pens I am adding.
I take them out each year and then pop them
back into the theme box for next year.
Those cute little ones are Scentos- like the smelly ones!

In small groups we are working on:

This uses an egg carton.
I use garage sale dots and add whatever skill
I want to work on or review.  This week I might
choose a heart, 15, pink, x's.
Then either make doubles or add different
shapes, numbers, or letters.
Print out, and tape it on top of an egg carton.
Add items to garage sale dots, and stick them inside the egg carton.
Add a red/pink: eraser, pony bead, heart, or glass bead.
Close cover. Shake. Open.
Read what is on the sticker in the cup
where the item landed. Close and repeat.

These shake-up games would be great for a transition too.

January Morning Bins Week 4 and More

Here are our mornings for this week:

Scissor Skills

These I made.

For our dental health centers

Cavity Count from here
Roll a number cube and put that many dots on the teeth.
Brush them off again while rolling the number cube.

This time I will use those tooth savers but
you could use white Unifix cubes

Smashing Cavities (like Smashing Pumpkins lol)
I am going to have the kids roll dough
and place it on top.
When it's filled, they can smash them down.

Pom pom sort on toothbrushes from here.

Trace and erase from here.

pick a tooth and write the number or letter on the
tooth and erase it with the toothbrush.

Winter Centers and More!

We read the book The Jacket I Wore.
We came up with different things we can wear in the sn*w.

Here I have some winter punches, white colored pencils and crayons
for the children to make winter scenes.
There is blue paper for the background.
There is white paper for the sn*w.

Here is my example:
The green box is our glue sponge.

Here is our play dough bin.
I know some people use a tray but I use trays for my
themed stews.
I put the letters to spell sn*w.

Here are some play dough mats $ for them to use:

More HERE

Here is our snowman stew $
in the video, it shows how I store them,
but this is how to display it.
The bowls are from Dollar Tree,
they have snowflakes around them.

Here are the winter magnatiles.
I think they were from Target.

These were our snowmen math magnet game.$

I drew the faces on the cups.
The snowballs were from Target I think.
The cups just sit in a bin and the kids toss yarn  pom-poms
into them and call out the number they sank the pom-pom.

I would suggest keeping the cups in a bin
so the cups don't tip over.

Snowball ten frames
I just used white cotton balls.
There are tons of activities in THIS unit. $

There was a snowman tic-tac-toe gameboard at Dollar Tree.
But I just had my children match on the card.
There are two versions of this game.
Found here.$
